FULL REWIRE/ PARTIAL REWIRE
Rewiring a house can be stressful for the home owner, we aim to make it as easy going as possible. Before any rewire we will go around the house with the owner choosing what work is needed and also what damage to walls etc we will have to make. Only once the customer is happy will we be happy. Unfortunately floor boards will have to be lifted and wall need to be chased out, repairing walls may need a decorator after but we aim to leave it with a suitable finish.
CONSUMER UNIT CHANGE (FUSEBOARD)
If your property requires a new consumer unit we have options to suit your budget. The electrical regulations can be confusing to people, we will go through what is required to bring you up to date with bs7671 wiring regulations and within your budget. Before any board change a test of the electrical installation (EICR) will be required to make sure no other work is needed and to make sure the circuits are healthy for RCBOS, as curtain faults can continuously trip the breaker. This test can be done on the same day or split over 2 days as over all work can take up the whole day. Any further work needed shall be talked through first before and agreed for the best option to proceed forward.
ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION CONDITION REPORT (EICR)
Having an EICR done on a property you are buying can save you a lot of hassle in the future. The EICR will point out the good and the bad point also what is needed to rectify any problems. An up to date EICR might also be needed for you house insurance to be valid. If there were to be a problem cause by the electrical supply and there is no EICR done they may not pay out.
MINOR WORKS
Where a circuit is added to or altered in anyway a minor works certificate will need to be issued. All minor works also needs to be up to current regulations so may not be as simple as people think, also might be a bit more work than expected. Minor works involves changing face plates for sockets and switches, alterations to lighting (pendant to down lights), extra sockets and anything that changes an existing circuit.
FAULT FINDING
Having a fault in your property can be a right pain, power tripping or lighting tripping can make for an unpleasant experience. We have the knowledge and testers to find these faults and rectify the problem or at least diagnose the problem. We like to find most faults within the first hour of being at the property (depending on size) and fixing if possible to keep cost down for the customer. Happy customer keeps us happy to.
SMOKE/HEAT ALARMS
A device that can save your life, but only if they are working correctly. Upgrading smoke/heat alarms can be a fairly simple job if the wiring is already installed, making it easy to swap the alarms over. If you currently have no smoke alarms in your property it is strongly advised to get some fitted. In most situations this is possible to do without lifting carpet and floorboards via a radio linked base making the whole process quicker than running new cables.
It would always be our recommendation to use an registered electrician for any work carried out within your property. Registered electricians are assessed every year and also keep up to date with the current regulations and changes that are made. Just because something is working doesn't mean it is done correctly and safely, the person carrying out the work needs to test to make sure. If you are unsure if any work might be dangerous call an electrician as putting it off could result in a horrible way. https://www.electricalsafetyfirst.org.uk/find-an-electrician/ is a good website to use for finding certified people.
